FROM THE EAST

Thank you for the Honor of electing me Worshipful Master of White Mountain Lodge #3. It is a special honor since this is my home lodge.

I was raised in this lodge 38 years ago. Stuart Bennett was Master, Harry Swartzman was Treasurer, and Joe Moore was secretary.

I will do my best to fulfill my responsibilities and duties the office requires.

Congratulations to our officers for 2004.

This year I will try, with the help of the brothers in our lodge, to bring in as many new young members from the Globe-Miami area as possible.  This will be our lifeblood for the future of our lodge. If I call on you for help or suggestions, I would appreciate your willingness to help achieve our goals.

Lets start by bringing your family and friends to the installation of our officers to be held on December 13, 2003.  Showing support for our officers will be appreciated. We will have a short stated meeting from 10 to 10:45, and start the installation ceremony at 11 AM. We have invited Bethel #13, International Order of Job’s Daughters to join us at the installation with their beautiful closing cross.  Finally, we have also invited Apache Commandery #16, Knights Templar, Mesa, Arizona for the Presentation of the Flag.

We plan to have lunch at 12 noon at the Masonic Temple. My wife Linda and daughter Lesa have agreed to help prepare a Mexican lunch. A call to Joe Henry informing him of the number of people you plan to invite to the ceremony and lunch would be appreciated.

After our January stated meeting on January 10th, I plan to have a Law Enforcement luncheon honoring our officers and deputies in the Globe Miami area.

After our February stated meeting on February 14th, we will honor our ladies & widows at a luncheon.  Please mark your calendar with these dates, as you attendance will be appreciated.

Hats off to WM Howard Billingsley for a great year, of accomplishments.  Lets shake his hand and thank him for this past year.

Again, sincere thanks for the honor you have paid me.

Paul J Doré Sr.

Master Elect

White Mountain Lodge #3

The following brothers were elected and installed for the year 1954.

WM – Sidney B Fix, SW – Robert H Lacy, JW – Oscar T Lyon Jr. – Treasurer – Lee L McDaniel, Secretary – Guy A Ligon.

A special meeting was convened for the purpose of receiving Brother James R Malott’s official visit.

On December 28th, WM Hubert Hooker conferred the Sublime degree of Master Mason on Brother Bill G Whitworth.

Doric Lodge #26

On December 5th, the MW Grand Master visited Doric Lodge for his official visit.

On December 21st seven brothers were presented 25- year pins. The following officers were elected and installed for the year 1954.  WM Raymond Cordes, SW Henry London, JW James A Hostetler, Treasurer Thomas D Henderson, Secretary Frank Robertson.

WM Raymond Cordes conferred the first degree of masonry on Carter E Nelms.

On December 24th, funeral services were conducted for Brother George W Reynold.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.  Finally he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to shovel dirt into the well.  At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.  Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down.  A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well, and was astonished at what he saw.  With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing.  He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.  Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!   Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.  Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up!  Shake it off and take a step up!

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

   1. Free your heart from hatred.

   2. Free your mind from worries.

   3. Live simply.

   4. Give more.

   5. Expect less.

Enough of that crap. The donkey later came back and kicked the shit out of the farmer that tried to bury him.

Moral: When you try to cover your ass, it always comes back to get you.
