FROM THE EAST

Brethren:

It seems like just a couple of months ago we were having installation after our December 2002 stated meeting.  Now November is here and once again elections are in order for those who will guide our lodge during 2004.  Plan to attend Lodge on November 8th and take part in making this important decision.

At the September stated meeting, longevity pins were presented to Brother James Malott 55 years and Brother Thomas Anderson received his 50 year Grand Lodge Award of Gold.  After Lodge MW Brother Oscar Lyon, W Brother Joe Henry, W Brother Paul Dore’ and myself presented longevity awards at their homes to those who were unable to make it to Lodge.  Brother Loy Gantt, 60 years, Brother Harold Cranswick 55years, and Brothers Carl Harmon and Frank Healey both received their Grand Lodge Award of Gold for 50 years of service to the Craft.  Brethren, this was a very special time in the lives of the recipients.  Not many of us are able to receive the Award of Gold.  The Brothers were quite pleased to receive their awards and also it was a very rewarding experience for me to observe the delight with which they were received.

Brethren, mark Tuesday, November 4, 2003 on your calendars and come down to the Lodge for a courtesy 3rd degree.  Worshipful Henry Qualls and the brethren of Ray-Winkelman Lodge #24 have been gracious enough to allow White Mountain Lodge #3 to confer this degree on one of their FCs. It has been some time since we have conferred the 3rd degree in our lodge and it should be a very interesting evening.  The line-up for the degree team will be a mix of #3 and #24 brothers with help of a few from other lodges. There will be refreshments between the first and second sections.  I do hope I will see a number of you there for this degree.

Our next stated meeting is Saturday, November 8, coffee and fellowship @ 9:00; Lodge at 10:00 A. M.  The next Trustees meeting will be Wednesday, November 12, 2003 @ 1:30 P. M.

Hoping to see you in lodge.  Be kind to one another with a great deal of brotherly love.

Fraternally,

Howard J. Billingsley WM

FROM THE WEST

At our next stated meeting, which will be held on November 8, 2003, we will be electing our new line of officers.

I am asking every member of our lodge to try his best to attend this important meeting.

Call a brother mason and provide transportation for him or if you desire transportation please call our secretary and he will have a brother bring you to lodge and return you home after the meeting.

I have contacted many of your brothers in White Mountain #3 this past month and it was enjoyable to talk to some I have never met or have not seen in years.  Hopefully, we can have some of these brothers attend one of our stated meetings in the near future.

Next month after our stated meeting on December 13th, we will have installation of officers for the year 2004. Lets try to attend and show support for our newly elected and appointed officers of White Mountain Lodge #3.

As a schoolboy, one of Red Skelton's teachers explained the words
and meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to his class.
Skelton later wrote down, and eventually recorded, his recollection of this lecture.
It is followed by an observation of his own.

I - - Me; an individual; a committee of one.
Pledge - - Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.
Allegiance - - My love and my devotion.
To the Flag - - Our standard; Old Glory; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybody's job.
United - - That means that we have all come together.
States of America- - Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.
And to the Republic - - a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
For which it stands
One Nation - meaning, so blessed by God.
Indivisible - - Incapable of being divided.
With Liberty - - Which is Freedom; the right of power to live one's own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.
And Justice - - The principle, or qualities, of dealing fairly with others.
For All
- which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine.

And now, boys and girls, let me hear you recite the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic, for which it stands;
one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country,
and two words have been added to the Pledge
: Under God.
Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer,
and that would be eliminated from schools, too?
--Red Skelton
