Brethren:

With a heavy heart I must report that another link has been severed in the fraternal chain by which we are bound. Brother Roy C. Miller was raised to the celestial lodge on June 29, 2003. Brother Roy was born March 21, 1911: Initiated an Entered Apprentice on September 18, 1950: Passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on October 24, 1950: And Raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason December 1, 1950. He received his Award of Gold in 2002 at his home in Snowflake, AZ.
At our last stated meeting a courtesy 2nd degree was performed at the request of Arizona Lodge # 2 on one of their candidates. Worshipful Brother Paul Dore our Senior Warden conferred the degree. The degree was done very well by all participants. The brothers of Arizona #2 provided lunch.

Our next stated meeting is Saturday, August 9, coffee and something @ 9:00; Lodge at 10:00 A. M. The next Trustees meeting will be Wednesday, September 10, 2003 @ 1:30 P. M.
Hoping to see you in lodge. Be kind to one another with a great deal of brotherly love.
Fraternally,
Howard J. Billingsley WM

      I stood before

      The Master's Chair
      A Brother craftsman
      Led me there

      A trowel now in
      The Master's hand
      With which to spread
      Cement and sand

      The words I had
      Been taught to use
      And warned that I
      Should not abuse

      That friendship was
      The greatest part
      And faith must come
      From my own heart

      An apron pure
      And spotless white
      A trust to keep
      With all my might

      And for these things
      I kneel in prayer
      God help me walk
      Both straight and square

THE SEA CAPTAIN, by Anonymous

I sailed my ship for many a day across the stormy sea;

Many a ruffian I have carried and never refused but three.

They met me on a summer day, and saw my gallant ship,

And sought a passage to the other side upon a hurried trip.

They offered all the dough they had, mixed with a little sass;

That made me kinda hesitate, and ask them for a pass,

They deemed a pass unnecessary for men of their degree,

And insisted that I take my ship and sail it out to sea.

An old man who was standing by, and noted what they said,

Saw them kick me in the ribs and strike me on the head,

He heard them say they'd steal a boat, and put it out to sea,

And sail away to the other side to some strange countr'ee,

But no! The coward of the bunch the one you'd think was brave.

Suggested that they turn again and hide in a mountain cave.

And as the day went slowly by, I heard the truth in time;

I found that they were murderers, and guilty of a crime.

So as I sail my sturdy ship, until my life has ceased;

I know not whom my friends may be unless they've traveled East.
